Joint-Coalition Grower Education Workshops Scheduled for January 2018 - The KBWQA has partnered with the Tule Basin Water Quality Coalition to hold four grower education workshop sessions on January 24th and 30th in Tulare at the Southern California (SCE) Energy Education Center (4175 South Laspina Street). Agenda topics will include instructions on completing the required 2017 Farm Evaluation, the 2017 Nitrogen Management Plan Summary Report, and the 2018 Nitrogen Management Plan Worksheet. Each of the four scheduled workshops will be identical so you will only need to attend one session:

  • Wednesday, January 24, 2017: Session 1 - 10 a.m.; Session 2 - 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 30, 2017: Session 1 - 10 a.m.; Session 2 - 2 p.m.


Nitrogen Management Plan Self-Certification Training scheduled for February 21, 2018 - A Nitrogen Management Plan (NMP) Self-Certification Training has been scheduled for February 21, 2018 in Tulare for Tulare County growers who are members of the Kaweah Basin Water Quality Association and Tule Basin Water Quality Coalition. If you wish to self-certify your NMP and did not obtain your certification in 2016 or 2017, you must attend this training and pass the test.

  • When: Wednesday, February 21, 2017, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Where: Southern California Edison (SCE) Energy Education Center (4175 South Laspina Street) in Tulare
  • Pre-registration is required by February 14, 2018. Click here to register.

Sediment & Erosion Control Plan Grower Self-Certification Training - The KBWQA does not have any additional self-certificaton trainings scheduled at this time, however you may attend a training a hosted by another coalition or check back for future dates scheduled by the KBWQA.

Note: Attendance at these workshops fulfilled annual grower workshop participation, as required by the ILRP General Order:

  • MPEP Technical Meeting held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 - The MPEP Technical Meeting held on March 2 at Visalia Elk's Lodge in Visalia included discussions on: an overview of the MPEP and what it has to do with the ILRP, what the MPEP will do for growers, how it will work and what it will produce, and an overview of management tools and information available for growers. We have posted the presentation online, as well as resources for the following crops: Walnuts, Almonds, Citrus, Grapes, and Tomatoes.

  • Enrollment Deadline: The deadline to join directly to the KBWQA ended on August 6, 2014. Growers/landowners will now need to provide a Notice of Intent (NOI) directly to the Regional Water Quality Control Board, pay applicable administrative fees, complete a KBWQA membership application, and will be subject to higher fees per acre. For more instructions, please visit the Join the Association page.
